Medical/Health Cannabis News

The Outsourcing of American Medical marijuana Research — We believe modern science is going ahead, right?” he asks. “Well, it’s not. When insulin was discovered in the 1920s, it became a drug in months. Cortisone was discovered in the late 1940s, and it was made into a drug a year or two later. Anandamide was discovered 23 years ago and has still never been administered to a human being. I’m not sure that’s progress.” Dr. Raphael Mechoulam

Courts Are Forcing Marijuana Users to Get Treatment They Probably Don’t Need — Opponents of marijuana legalization often cite the “skyrocketing” number of people seeking treatment for marijuana addiction in their arguments. But new data out this month from the Department of Health and Human Services provides some important context behind those numbers. In 2013, more than half of marijuana users in treatment were sent there by the courts or the criminal justice system. That’s more than the share of court-ordered referrals for any other drug, including far more deadly ones like alcohol and heroin.

Prison existence is bleak anytime but especially so during the holidays.  Here are some easy things you can do to help those behind bars during the holidays, or anytime. These things won’t cost much money or time, but doing some or all of them will brighten a marijuana inmate’s word tremendously, and it just might help them get released too.

Marijuana Recipe of the Week

Eggnog Custard - Marijuana RecipesEggnog Custard — Rich egg custard gets enhanced with the traditional eggnog flavors of rum and nutmeg…and a little added something from kief or finely ground hash for this Marijuana Eggnog Custard.  By using the concentrate, the cannabis flavor doesn’t overwhelm, even though this is a somewhat delicately flavored dessert.  This recipe is super easy and quick to prepare (minus baking time).
